Backup Microsoft Outlook Express

Using BackupMyStuff is the easy and secure way to automatically protect your emails.

NOTE: Microsoft Outlook Express is not the same as Microsoft Outlook and it stores its information differently. For Microsoft Outlook see our guide on Backing up Microsoft Outlook .

Where are my emails kept?
Microsoft Outlook Express stores its information in several files with names such as inbox.dbx. These files are usually stored in your profile using a path such as C:\Documents and Settings\ProfileName\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{135C12CC-1227-46CD-BCF9-E5FDA64BDC3D}\Microsoft\Outlook Express.

What is a profile?
Your profile is the series of folders and subfolders listed in the 'Documents and Settings' folder under your username. So for example if you log in as Anne, your profile consists of those files and folders in the directory \Documents and Settings\Anne.

How does Back2Go Protect my email?
If you use Back2Go Office Template you dont need to worry about where your Outlook Express dbx files are stored because the Back2Go application will find all the required files on your PC automatically and will back them all up for you.
