  bullet Data Recovery With Attix5

Over 95% of the data recoveries performed on our systems are individual files or folders and so it is most likely that you will never have to perform a full server recovery. However, you still need to be sure that in the event of your server being completely inaccessible you can still get your data back.

The Back2Go Online Backup solution allows you to recover your data in the following ways

Scenario 1: Recover data to existing server

1.
Recovery over the internet.

Customers with leased lines and ADSL can recover their data quickly and simply over the internet using the recovery options within the software. The amount of data you can recover over the internet varies with the data type and the amount of compression we achieve but it is not unreasonable to expect to recover about 10Gb of compressed data (equates to up to 20Gb of uncompressed data on your server (depending on data type)) in 48 hours over a standard ADSL line.

2.
Recovery from local disk copy

The backup software keeps copies of the most recent backups of files in a local encrypted cache. The location of this cache is defined during the installation of your software and the cache can be a local drive, a portable drive (such as a USB disk) or a network drive. The default setting is to keep files in this cache for 14 days. So if you have files which are changing frequently they will almost always be in the cache and you do not need to recover them from the data center. Likewise, when backing up Exchange the system makes a copy of the exchange database and backs up the changes in that copy compared to the previous backup.

Therefore you should be able to recover the most recent backup of most files from the local disk cache (again using the software recovery option to initiate this recovery).

Scenario 2: Recover Data to another location (such as a replacement server)

1.
Recovery from local disk copy

In the event that your original server is not usable you may still be able to recover your data from the local disk copy if that disk was not damaged during the server failure. For example if your cache was stored on a USB disk plugged into the server you would install the backup software on a new server, link back to the existing backup account, configure the cache and exchange backups to the USB drive containing your data and then recover from there using the software.

2.
Recovery over the internet

Install the software on your replacement server linking back to the existing backup account and then recover your data using the recovery tools within the software

3.
Recovery Using the Web portal

Web based restores can also be performed from anywhere in the world using the web portal into your backups. This type of restore does not require any software, you simply log into your backup account through the portal and then retrieve the files you need. You can also upload files to the web briefcase in the event that you change your restored files and need to keep secure copies of them.

4.
Onsite Recovery

We can arrange for an engineer to be onsite with a portable copy of your data. There is a charge for this service which is £450 per day plus expenses. If you have business continuity insurance, this fee may be covered by your policy. You will need to check with your insurer to confirm what level of cover you have.

Regardless of the type of data recovery you require, Back2Go is able to provide you with the tools you need and the reassurance that your data is safe and retrievable should disaster strike. Our support team are here to help and are experienced in helping retrieve data should you need guidance.
