Back2Go PC/Laptop Backup Services and Outlook 2007 Email Client
Microsoft Corporation has released a new version of its Outlook Email client, Outlook 2007. As this product has been rewritten by Microsoft the way that emails are handled by the Back2Go Online Backup product is affected. The Back2Go Online Backup product can backup Outlook Email files (PST Files) in one of two ways;
Standard File Backup - this is where the outlook file is backed up as a complete file each time.
Email Optimisation Backup - this is where the contents of the outlook file (individual emails, Sent Items, Calendar etc) are backed up individually.
At this stage the email optimisation feature within our Backup agent is NOT COMPATIBLE with Outlook 2007 however the Standard File backups of the Outlook file will occur wthout problem. Users who install Outlook 2007 may see the following error in their backup logs;
"No MAPI service provider is available to read a PST file"
If this message occurs you should check that your Outlook file is backed up using the standard File Backup method. You can do this either by attempting a restore of your Outlook PST file or by checking the backup logs within the software agent.
